Movie Night

Dear community,

The IAHR-YPN in Baden-Württemberg is inviting you to join our movie night and discussion session about water issues on November 30th.

Together, we will watch the documentary “The World’s Most Polluted River: The Citarum”. The Citarum, once considered paradise, is now reduced to a sewer conveying human waste and dangerous chemical substances. The filmmakers teamed up with international scientists to investigate the causes and consequences of the pollution of the Citarum to discover toxic chemicals that threaten the lives of 14 million Indonesians dependent on the river for survival. But, there is a glimmer of hope!

Join us to find out how the concerted efforts of citizens, Green Warriors, and scientists are prompting the Indonesian government to change their wastewater regulations.

We look forward to seeing you at the event!

Sustainable Water Management: Challenges for the Next Generation – Colloquium

Dear community,

The International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research, Young Professionals Network – Baden Württemberg (IAHR-BW) is pleased to announce its 21st Annual Colloquium on November 4th, 2022. The theme for this year’s colloquium will be centred around the theme “Sustainable Water Management: Challenges for the Next Generation”.

The goal of our annual colloquium is to bring together experts to disseminate and discuss the most up-to-date developments in water and environmental issues. Although it is often discussed, the sustainable use of our water resources is still lacking in many countries, especially in the face of future global changes, such as population growth and climate change. Increasing instances of floods, droughts, groundwater degradation and habitat destruction threaten to upend our way of life.

This event will feature experts from both industry and academia who are working to tackle these challenges head on, as well young professionals who will present their research in water related topics. This will be your opportunity to improve your knowledge about current topics related to water and the environment and to meet other students and professionals in the field.

If you would like to attend our event we will kindly ask you to fill in the registration form by Wednesday, November 2nd.

We look forward to your participation!

Warm regards,
IAHR Comittee

Let’s Talk About Water

Water has always been and will remain our most valuable resource on the planet. It can be used for socio-economical activities as drinking, cooking, domestic applications, irrigation, or industrial application, nevertheless, its existence is a main factor to maintain our nature’s balance. Now, imagine this precious resource taken away from you! What would you do? How could you simply survive? Horrible isn’t it?

WAREM – Water Resources Engineering and Management at the Universität Stuttgart (University of Stuttgart), Germany has joined forces with IAHRBW-YPN (The International Association for hydro Engineering and Research – Young Professionals Network) in Baden-Württemberg, Germany to organize a social event to talk about water especially in developing counties. Together we will watch the recently published Into Dust documentary directed by Academy Award-winning film director, Orlando von Einsiedel.

Join us on 8th of November 2021 and help us share a story of a hero. The 40 mins documentary will be followed by an open discussion about water and ways to take action fighting water crisis around the world.
